A later start to all games last week with the seniors playing a twilight match. The U19’s game was one they would like to forget – unfortunately they were never in the contest and Mooroolbark took every opportunity to score and get a percentage boost. One last game next week away and we know you will put in the same effort and determination despite the result – well done to all.
The reserves have been consistent in their last few matches but have been run over in the last quarter, confident of beating Mooroolbark they started well and were in the match right up until three quarter time. Mooroolbark started better in the last and sensing an upset they kicked away to take the win, best players D.Barker, J.Granland, T.Michelson and A.Mitchell.
Playing our first ever senior twilight game we started well getting the first two goals on the board and really taking it up to Mooroolbark, to their credit they steadied and kicked more accurately than us and took a 5 point lead at the first break. We continued to dominate the stoppages and get good clearances into our forwards in the second term though accuracy was an issue and we only had a four point lead at half time. The third quarter proved to be a real arm wrestle with no team able to break away on the scoreboard but our inaccuracy and rushed kicking would prove costly. Taking a slim 1 point lead into the last quarter Mooroolbark took their opportunities and managed to get ahead and kept us to just two points for the quarter taking the win by 22 points in a very even contest. Best players M.McGillivray, L.Pritchard, C.McLeod and R.Handley.
Last game this week against Mulgrave away who have more than us to play for but we are capable of getting a win – Go Waters!!
