Great result for the club last week with both the senior and reserve teams winning their matches. With the U19’s having a bye the day started with our reserves taking on Waverley Blues who sit third on the ladder and narrowly defeated us in their first game earlier this year. Despite only having 20 players the reserves started well and kicked five goals to one in the first quarter to set up the win, they never looked out of the contest and continue to improve each week. Best players T.Gordon with 5 goals, A.Poynter, L.Pritchard & B.Harrington.
The seniors had a point to prove after last week’s disappointing result and needed to start well and play competitive football knowing that 2nd Division is such an even competition where anything can happen. In excellent conditions for football the first quarter was a very even contest with just three goals kicked by each side so the second quarter was where we started to play our running game and get on top kicking four goals to one and taking a 22 point lead at the half time break. Sensing that we had an opportunity to get a really good win the players committed to the contest in the second half of the game and came away with a fantastic 60 point win and kept Waverley Blues scoreless in the final term. Best players Z.Leacy, M.Musa, A.Vandelaak and B.Dixon.
Thank you to all sponsors and coterie group members who attended the match day luncheon which was a great social event – your support of the club is most appreciated and is vital to our development.
This week we take on Croydon at The Range and all teams will need to be at their best to get the result – Go Waters!!
