A weekend of football we would much rather forget with all three teams comprehensively beaten by Nth Ringwood, to say the conditions played a part would be somewhat true but all teams had to play in it.
The U19's started the day in the rain with only 16 players and to their credit gave it their all as they do each week but playing outnumbered is always a tough assignment, despite the result they never gave up and battled all day, best players - TEAM EFFORT. You have the bye this week so lets regroup and get the numbers back up and stay positive.
On what was already a wet heavy ground the U19's made it a little more unplayable for the reserves, being down on players some of the U19's stepped up to have another go despite the tough conditions and the first quarter was a very even affair only two points the difference at the first break. Our lack in concentration and discipline cost us ultimately in the second quarter which allowed Nth Ringwood to kick an unanswered five goals while we didn't score. The second half was much better and we played our brand of football well but the damage was done and eventually we went down by just 14 points. Best players A.Poynter, J.Bradbury, B.Harrington (8 quarters of football fantastic effort), S.Reeves and F. Khan.
The senior game would have to be the biggest disappointment and lowest performance we have put in all season, despite starting well we kicked inaccurately early scoring two behinds in the first 5 minutes, Nth Ringwood got a run on and never looked back kicking five unanswered goals to take a 29 point lead at the first break. Playing more accountable football in the second we held them top three behinds but only scored two ourselves. We started slowly in the third and the game was well out of reach heading into the last but despite this we still battled to the final siren, best players J.Galvin, A.Vandelaak, B.Dixon and M.Musa.
This week we welcome all H20 members and supporters for lunch as we take on Waverley Blues - lets get the result and play with determination - Go Waters!!
