To the Bayswater Football Club community,

Well, it has certainly been a very difficult and uncertain time for us all this past month, so we thought we would take this opportunity to keep connected with you all and update you with what has happened and what lies ahead at the club in 2020.

With the growing impact of COVID-19, and the postponement of the 2020 EFNL season, like all sporting clubs and the wider community, the Bayswater Football Club finds itself in unchartered territory.

Firstly, the EFNL continues to update us regularly on the status of the 2020 season, and as it stands the season is still due to commence on Saturday 31st May 2020. The health and safety of our players, supporters, members and sponsors is our main priority and concern as always, so as a club we will continue to follow all Government guidelines and any decision made by the EFNL in the coming future with regards to the season.

This time in our community will be difficult, and for some, harder both financially and for their wellbeing, but in times of need a sporting club is a great place of solace, safety and support for many. So, with that being said, moving forward we will be publishing a monthly newsletter for our community to look at past achievements, while updating you all on future plans and keeping us all connected. As well as some exciting things on our socials, see below for where to follow us!

Be rest assured though, all that hard work put in by all teams in the pre-season isn’t going to waste either! The playing group is continuing to be supported by Senior Coach Tom Roach with weekly fitness programs and regular welfare check ins by Tim Cook, our newly appointed Player Welfare Manager.

The Player Welfare Manager is a new role for Bayswater this year and one that couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time. Tim has a great passion for supporting others through the struggles they may face due to mental health, but is also a true testament to what Bayswater Football Club stands for. He is respectful, relentless, selfless and supportive to the whole football club community and beyond, making the appointment of him in this role an easy one!

This year we’ve seen a number of new faces to the committee, including myself as Vice President.

The committee started this year with a new approach, introducing a clear structure to all of our positions as well as goals to ensure success for the club off the field too. These goals are currently being reviewed by the committee, and we are striving to still achieve them even with the season like this!

With all of that being said, the club encourages you all to look after yourselves and your family and friends during this time. Be sure to follow Government guidelines, check in with others, stay active, and be kind to one another.

We also want to pay tribute to the many local businesses who support us or have supported us in the past. They are feeling these uncertain times more than most, so while on your way to work grab a coffee at your café or if you’re planning a home project, get in contact with a local supplier or tradesman.

Take care of each other, stay connected and we will see you all soon!

Tara Purdy

Vice President
